Learn about resources available to private landowners to aid in landscape recovery after wildfire.

Placerville, CA, September 29th, 2014:  The University of California is cohosting a workshop for the El Dorado and Amador County residents on Recovering from Wildfire: resources for private landowners. The workshop will be held at the Pleasant Valley Grange on October 24th, 9:00 to 4:00 PM.

The workshop objectives are to increase understanding of the role of wildfire in forest development and change, post-fire issues and treatment options and to provide information on post-fire treatment cost-share programs, tax issues and professional assistance for post-fire treatments for private landowners.

This workshop is focused on the needs of private forest landowners affected by the Sand and King Fires, but also welcomes citizens interested in the future of forests after wildfire, staff and decision makers with state, local, federal and tribal agencies concerned with forest management, defensible space, and water quality.

Details and registration can be found on our website: http://ucanr.edu/postfireworkshop.

(Sutter Creek)   Amador Water Agency counsel Stephen Kronick was recognized Wednesday for his 38 years of service to the Agency with a resolution of appreciation by the AWA Board.
Kronick is retiring from legal practice after assisting the Agency with legal affairs on tens of millions of dollars in projects over the years. Kronick advised AWA general managers George Ulstad, Dave Walker, Tom Hoover, Jim Abercrombie, and Gene Mancebo.
During his years as Agency counsel, Kronick was involved in over 800 projects and studies that shaped the Water Agency from its infancy as an advisory agency into a county-wide full-service utility provider, including the Ione Pipeline (replacing the Ione Canal), Ione Water Treatment Plant expansion to serve Mule Creek State Prison, the Amador Transmission Pipeline (replacing the Amador Canal), the new Buckhorn Water Treatment Plant, the Wildflower Storage Tank, the Plymouth Pipeline, and the Gravity Supply Line currently under construction.
Kronick began his legal career with his uncle’s firm, Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, and in 1989 left to form Bartkiewicz, Kronick & Shanahan, specializing in water and environmental law.  At one time or another, Kronick represented the County of Amador, most other Amador utility agencies, and many private parties over the past four decades.
Current AWA counsel Joshua Horowitz, partner at Bartkiewicz, Kronick & Shanahan, continues the Sacramento law firm’s association with the Water Agency.
