Barbera Festival 2015: New Location, More Wineries, Great Food, and More Fun.
Plymouth, CA; April 7, 2015 – Amador County’s popular Barbera Festival, set for Saturday, June 13, 2015, 11am – 4pm, celebrates its fifth year, commemorating the anniversary with changes designed to please its many devoted and enthusiastic fans.
New LOCATION. The Barbera Festival is moving to the original home of barbera in Amador County, Terra d’Oro Winery/Montevina Vineyards, 20680 Shenandoah School Road, Plym- outh. This beautiful new location honors the history of barbera and can accommodate more guests at this popular event.
More WINERIES. Having featured wineries from all over the great state of California, the festival is now attracting wineries from our neighbors to the north, with an Oregon winery in attendance.
Great Barbera-friendly FOOD. Barbera is known for pairing beautifully with food, and not just traditional Italian. In addition to the classics—including wood-fired pizza—we are pairing barbera with three different barbeque styles prepared by three amazing chefs.
More FUN. Over thirty fabulous artisans displaying their crafts, art, and wares and live music to please everyone.
Tickets for this always sold-out event are available at barberafestival.com. Ticket prices are $50 for General Admission and $30 for Designated Driver. Tickets must be purchased in advance. All proceeds for the Barbera Festival benefit the Amador Community Foundation.

HEALTHY AMADOR BEGINS
After years laying the groundwork for an ambitious program to improve the health and fitness of Amador residents and workers, the Amador Council for Healthy Options announces it will be accepting memberships starting April 10, 2015. The goal of this program is to reach out to those who know that they should be doing more to be fit and healthy and can be helped by personal guidance, team support, system to track their progress and other incentives.
Every member who enrolls in the Healthy Amador (HA) program receives a bundle of benefits including a website with instructions for each step of the program (healthyamador.org), a team captain who will meet with the members and help get them started, a package of tools including a resistance band, stopwatch, HA T-shirt and other goodies.
Initially members will be assigned to an initial team and later can switch to a team of their friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. Members will also be entitled to participate in HA fun events and receive prizes for making progress. HA will be doing a weekly tracking of a team's distance walked, time spent walking/jogging, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, amount of fresh fruit and vegetables consumed and resistance training.
Individual membership is $35 for the six month program and $65 for a family. If you are employed by the Rancheria, Sutter Amador Hospital or other sponsoring employer you only pay $10 for an individual and $15 for a family. To get enrolled go to the website healthyamador.org and make your payment. If you do not have Internet access, make out a check to "ACHO" and mail it to Healthy Amador, 615-1 NY Ranch Road, Jackson, CA 95642 and include your name, telephone number and address. You will be contacted by your first team captain.
Recent medical science has reinforced the benefit of exercise in preventing disease and improving health. Americans are way too sedentary and overweight. Even with their physicians recommending exercise, it is difficult for many to take the first steps to making this lifestyle change. It is the goal of Healthy Amador to make this easier.
The Healthy Amador Program is run by the Board of the non-profit Amador Council for Healthy Options (ACHO) chaired by Marv Hampton. The project got its start as a partnership between Sutter Amador Hospital, Amador Public Health and New York Fitness.
