City Of Jackson: Jackson Hills Decision

slide2Jackson City Council met Monday night to a large audience and full agenda, which focused mainly on the Jackson Hills Development Project. The meeting began with administrative and council reports, and then began the next portion of the agenda to review and discuss Jackson Hills. A brief presentation was given by Allen Warren the President of New Faze, the developer of the project, where he also introduced Marty Tuttle serving as the project lead, Staff Engineer Les Clark, and Project Attorney Mike Cook. From there began the public hearing, many members of the community, both those supportive of the project, and those opposed, addressed the council with facts, statistics, and fervor.

Plymouth City Council Meeting

slide3The Municipal Services Agreement between the City of Plymouth and the Ione band of Miwok Indians was originally adopted in February of 2004. Shortly after that adoption, in March of 2004, two complaints were filed with the Amador Superior Court saying the city had wrongly adopted the MSA. One complaint was made by Amador County and the other by the No Casino in Plymouth organization (NCIP).

El Dorado Forest OHV Grant Apps Available

slide16The El Dorado National Forest is developing an application for California Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Cooperative funds for the upcoming 2007-2008 cycle. The Forest Service anticipates submitting the application which will include funding requests for several different aspects of the regulation and support of OHV usage. The application to be submitted will request funds for OHV and Over-Snow Vehicle (OSV) Law Enforcement in all four Ranger Districts across the Forest, OHV Trail Maintenance and repair in Amador, Georgetown and Placerville Ranger Districts, the purchase of two snowmobiles for winter patrols on the Amador Ranger District, the purchase of two motorcycles for summer patrols on the Pacific Ranger District, and Facility Operation and Maintenance on the Georgetown and Placerville Ranger Districts.

CHP Reports On Weekend Collisions

slide10The California Highway Patrol is reporting several accidents over the weekend on Amador county roadways. Friday afternoon saw two collision one on Latrobe Rd near the county line and the other at Rocky lane in the Pioneer area. The Latrobe Road collision involved a solo car driven by Joseph Simon, 19 years old of Sacramento, and his passenger, 18 year old Heather Thorton of Rancho Cordova. The pair was southbound on Latrobe in a 1990 Acura Integra when Simon failed to negotiate a turn in the road just after crossing the Cosumnes River, according to the CHP report, due to his level of intoxication. The car skidded off of the roadway, struck a tree and then overturned. Simon was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence. 
Yesterday at around 9:30 am a two vehicle collision occured on Lower Ridge Rd near Forest Products Drive on Sutter Hill. The accident was a bobtail type delivery truck versus a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was transported with major injuries to Sutter Amador Hospital.

Ione City Council Special Meeting

slide10The Ione City Council met Tuesday night to discuss a full agenda. The meeting began with an acceptance of the consent agenda and public comment. At this time Mule Creek State Prison Warden Richard Subia informed the council members that Tuesday morning the Board of Supervisors had voted to create a community block grant program that will allow those residents who lived around the Mule Creek State Prison with wells that tested high in nitrates the ability to get a direct hook up to access for water from the city of Ione.
