slide16A young couple with a baby found themselves in a predicament Wednesday evening on the river along Electra Road. Apparently the couple had arrived earlier in the day and crossed over the river to the Calaveras side by wading in the low water. 
 Next Monday the Amador county negotiation team representing the county’s interests in negotiations with the Buena Vista Rancheria will head to Sacramento for yet another round of negotiations with the Tribe.
Mailboxes are becoming quite the conversation in Sutter Creek as the local post office there has decided to allow street delivery on some additional streets.

Knight Foundry Project Gets "Hopeful News"

The California Cultural and Historical Endowment has just announced the finalists in the Round 3 Grant Cycle for Proposition 40 funding and Sutter Creek historic project has made the list.

Fisher-Price Toy Recall Announced

slide7Fisher Price Toys has announced a recall involving 83 different toys. The toys are all toys representing various Nickelodeon and Sesame Street characters including Dora the explorer, Elmo, Big Bird and the rest of the gang.
slide32An interstate bridge jammed with rush-hour traffic suddenly broke into huge sections and collapsed into the Mississippi River Wednesday, pitching dozens of cars 60 feet into the water and killing at least seven people.

Al Qaeda Now Advertising on the Internet

Al Qaeda, in their effort to increase their propaganda around the world has entered into a new type of rhetoric- web advertising.
slide2If you lease an airport hanger at Westover Field your rent will be increasing upon your lease renewal after cost of living increases were approved by the Board of Supervisors yesterday. Leanne Macintyre of the Department of General Services explained to the board that a cost of living increase is provided for in all leases, however in some of the leases the increases are automatic at renewal and others it is left to the county’s discretion.  This will impact lessees as the lease anniversary dates come up in this fiscal year. The amount of the increases is 3.46 percent or about 1.56 per month on the average. The Board approved the increases unanimously.
slide3Last Thursday night’s meeting at La Contenta golf club was no doubt crowded with worried Camanche area residents of three East Bay Municipal Utility District owned mobile home parks. All of the residents, and many elderly as well, were concerned over their future and how it would be impacted by East Bay MUD’s update of its Mokelumne Watershed Master Plan. Although no promises were made, the utility did acknowledge some of the owner’s concerns and points of information as valid.

New Visitors Center in Plymouth to Open Soon

The Amador Vintners and the Amador Council on Tourism have hooked up for a joint venture which will culminate in the Grand Opening of the New Amador Visitors Center in Plymouth on Friday August 10th 1 P.M. – 7 P.M.
