slide7According to Amador County Elections Officials new rules implemented by the California Secretary of State for the February elections will have impacts here in Amador County- but they say with the Board of Supervisors support they will get through them. George Allen & Sheldon Johnson gave an Amador County Voting System update reporting that the new rules include 10 requirements for tabulation procedures for how votes must now be counted.
A theft in San Joaquin County could impact Amador County Citizens that are clients of the United Cerebral Palsy. Lat week a thief broke into the building that houses the United Cerebral Palsy of Amador, Calaveras and San Joaquin Counties. The charity serves more than 2,000 clients from the 3 counties.

Mill Burns Last Night

slide8“It’s the largest structure fire in Amador County history” states Jackson Assistant Fire Chief Dale Fishback. Early this morning, around 12:53 am a fire was reported at a Martell area mill, a fiberform plant, located directly behind Lowe’s. And that’s were the drama began. As the initial fires arrived on scene, the two engines from CalFire’s Sutter Hill station faced 200 foot flames shooting from the metal and wood building.

Wreck Knocks Out Power, Closes Hwy 88

Last night’s fire was the topper to a busy 14 hours for emergency crews. Yesterday afternoon around 12:20 pm a fire was reported just off Hwy 88 near King James Orchard across from the cemetery in Pioneer – The fire was reported to be rapidly spreading.
slide17Things started off a little wild last evening for emergency crews when several vehicle collisions occurred within minutes of each other, including one that closed a busy section of Hwy 88 for several hours and knocked out power to most of the western portions of the county.
slide5Starting this coming Monday August 13, Amador County kids are heading back to school.  That means you'll be seeing more big yellow school buses on the road. Every day, millions of school-age kids begin and end their day on the bus. The Amador County School District is reminding all residents that on school mornings, drivers need to be alert for children heading to school even if no school bus is present. 
On Monday August 6, 2007 at approximately 5:18 am, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a subject trespassing at a property in the 18000 block of Latrobe Road, Plymouth  
Due to extreme fire danger and dry forest conditions the Eldorado increased fire restrictions yesterday, Monday, August 6, 2007. Eldorado National Forest Supervisor Ramiro Villalvazo signed a forest order that restricts campfires and charcoal barbeques only to designated developed campgrounds and facilities on the Eldorado that have a campground host and a water system.
