Amador County – The Ione Veterans Memorial Park Committee is looking for veterans from the Ione and Camanche area. If a veteran is a member of American Legion or VFW, their name will automatically appear in the park. Any other veteran, or family of a deceased veteran in the Ione zip code who would like inclusion on the veterans wall should complete a form at Ione City Hall or the Ione branch of the Bank of Amador. The goal is to complete the veteran’s wall by the end of 2011. The park at Main Street and Preston Avenues in Ione will have a dedication ceremony April 30, with a flyover, honor guard, bagpipers, taps, a 21-gun salute, and a patriot’s parade For more information, contact Sharon Long at (209) 304-5118 or Jerry Cassesi at (209) 601-4079.
