Amador County – The Amador County Sheriff’s Department reported that a six-day, multi-agency search of China Gulch Cove in Lake Camanche has recovered the body of a Fremont man who went missing in the water last week, and the autopsy report confirmed that the man was the victim of a drowning.
On Tuesday, Amador County Undersheriff Jim Wegner release details of the investigation, saying that the missing person had been recovered on Monday, and was positively identified as the missing man.
He said on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 12:13 p.m. “the Amador County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 phone call regarding a missing 70-year-old male boater from Fremont that was believed to have drowned. The Amador County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit and Dive Team responded to China Gulch Cove at Lake Camanche and conducted an exhaustive search for the missing person.”
Wegner said the “multi-day search included a ground search, an underwater search utilizing various search patterns and methods, a canine search and several underwater sonar searches.” The Amador County Sheriff’s Department “was assisted in these efforts by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, the California Rescue Dog Association, the Army Corp of Engineers and East Bay Municipal Utilities District personnel.
On Monday (Sept. 19), Wegner said “the missing person was recovered from the water in China Gulch Cove. The identity of the decedent was confirmed as Kenneth Edward Mosley.” He said an “autopsy performed by forensic pathologists for the Amador County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office confirmed the cause of Mosley’s death as fresh water drowning.”
