The Amador County Animal Control released information Tuesday about the incident, which occurred early on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The release said “Amador County Animal Control and Public Health are seeking information about a dog that bit a child and an adult in Pioneer prior to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11.”

The two individuals “were walking their leashed pet dog at Mira Vista Court in Pioneer when another” dog, tan in color, “approached and bit both the child and the adult, prior to disappearing into the woods,” the release said. “The breed of the dog is uncertain, possibly a pit bull or pit bull-mix.”

Animal Control officials said they “would like to speak to the owner of the dog to confirm the dog is alive and well so the child and the adult who were bitten do not have to receive a series of rabies injections. Animal Control is asking anyone with information to please contact them at (209) 223-6378 or to contact Public Health at (209) 223-6407.
