Amador County – Amador County burning of outdoor debris piles are now allowed, with residents advised to check with the Amador County Air District to find out which days are burn days, but California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection officials also urged the use of caution.
Cal-Fire’s Amador-El Dorado Unit Fire Prevention Specialist Teri Mizuhara said because it is no longer fire season, the determination of burn days is handled locally by the Air Quality Control District office. She said Tuesday in Amador County was a no-burn-day, but Wednesday was a burn-day.
She said Cal-Fire has one station staffed in Amador County, at Pine Grove, and a crew at Pine Grove Conservation Camp” was just activated a short time ago,” early Wednesday afternoon, and was placed on standby, due to escaped burn piles.
Mizuhara said as a result of the burn day, and moderate wind, they were chasing a lot of escaped burn piles around Amador County on Wednesday. She said because the region has not seen any rain, she would urge anyone who is burning debris to be extremely careful with the burn piles, especially with no forecast for rain ahead.
Recent high winds had brought a call for a suspension to the permits, but it is now at the discretion of Air Districts. She said people should be very careful with burn piles.
Cal-Fire’s Pine Grove Mount Zion Cal-Fire station is staffed full time through the winter months, through a contract with Amador County.
