slide3-recycle_scrap_it_open_on_academy_drive.pngAmador County – JCH Enterprises purchased a parcel and building at 100 Academy Drive in Sutter Creek several months ago and after some work has opened their new Recycle Scrap It recycling business in the same building of a former recycler.

Heather Brusatori, manager of the Recycle Scrap It, and partner of JCH Enterprises, said Recycle Scrap It opened for business last Tuesday, Dec. 6, and she will be filling out their recycling rates this week as she determines what the market will allow.

“Scrap iron fell out” this week, Brusatori said, so Recycle Scrap It will pay about 9 cents a pound for scrap iron. They take appliances (for a small fee), gutters, car parts, and aluminum and steel vehicle wheels (but the tires must be removed). The only corrosive type item they take is car and vehicle batteries.

Brusatori said JCH Enterprises purchased the acre-plus parcel and the bare building, the former home of Amador Recycling, and had to haul in all of the equipment and recycling bins and trailers.

They have a California Refund Value certified sign out front and have their recycling number from the state, so they are able to give the California Refund Value (CRV) for containers on which it is charged in purchases.

Brusatori said they will try to offer fast and friendly service, with three, part-time employees. They take appliances for a small fee, and recycle vehicle batteries. They pay for CRV-glass and non-CRV glass, and will be doing copper soon. For containers, they take plastic bottles, large cans and separate colored glass of green, brown and white.

Heather’s father, Jack Brusatori owns and operates Jack’s Service Center around the corner, at Highway 49 and Lower Ridge Road, and Heather Brusatori was splitting time between the two businesses this week as she and the staff get the business open and running.

The company brought trailer bins for all of the different recyclables, and has loader bins for aluminum and clear glass. They also have a paper baling machine that still need to be wired for power. They also accept different kinds of paper, including business and newsprint.

Recycle Scrap It’s hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The business is located at 100 Academy Drive in Sutter Creek. For information on recycling items, call Recycle Scrap It.
