Carol Cook, Content Developer for the Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel Marketing Department said “the free Hay Rides are a massive effort by of hundreds of Rancheria employees to provide something magical for the community during the holidays.”

The effort starts with the crew that spends two months putting up the lights, and continues with everyone who helps during the rides, including the Fire Department (which shares their Firehouse with the rides), AV, Electrical, Rez crew, Food & Beverage, Grounds Crew, Transportation, Tribal and Casino Security, and all the volunteers who host the rides, direct traffic and numerous other duties.

Cook said during the eight days of rides this year, the Food & Beverage crew served 720 gallons of hot cocoa, four gallons of coffee, eight cases of mini-marshmallows and more than 9,000 cookies. In addition, Santa in the Firehouse and Miwok Santa in the middle of the ride handed out over 12,000 candy canes.

The Hay Rides are a gift to the community from the Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians and are coordinated by Ron Olivero, Director of Entertainment & Events, and Venissa Morse, Special Events Manager.

Olivero said: “We really appreciate the dedication of our employees in making this year’s event the most successful ever. This event is only as wonderful as the people who make it happen and we hope our guests had as much fun as we did.”
