Amador County – The Jackson Rancheria and the Amador County Recreation Agency are teaming up to evaluate and improve the conditions of the baseball and softball playing fields in Amador County.
The Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwok Indians announced Wednesday that in “continuing a tradition of support for the youth of Amador County” the tribe has entered “an exciting program to refresh the county’s aging ballparks.”
In a joint effort with the Amador County Recreation Agency, Tribal Members Adam Dalton, Tessie Dalton and Earl Dalton III are heading up an effort to first assess the condition of all the ball fields in Amador County, and then prioritize the order in which they will be repaired.
Adam Dalton said: “We couldn’t be more excited, especially to make this announcement on the eve of my mother’s birthday. Margaret Dalton was a great advocate for giving kids something constructive to do with their time, especially in a place they could be proud to do it.”
After the initial assessment is completed, and a plan is developed, a county-wide recruitment effort will begin. Volunteers rolling up their sleeves and vendors contributing materials are important for this to be a true community effort, the Tribe members said.
