In the current draft, the first day of school would be August 13 and the last day, June 6. The winter break is now 19 days long, the spring break is 11 days long, and there is a 4-day weekend over Memorial Day. Other holiday weekends follow the pattern that the district has used the past several years. The school calendar is negotiated as part of the teachers union contract and is not technically subject to public comment, though it appears that revisions in the current draft reflect changes requested by detractors of the earlier plan.
