Office manager Diane Sherbourne said it is that time of year when the Chamber needs to renew its board of Directors for fiscal year 2012. Sherbourne said: “Please let us know if any of you are interested in being on the ballot. We ask that Directors attend monthly meetings on the third Friday of every month and participate in one of our committees.”

She said Chamber committee volunteer opportunities are also open to members to fit in where they could be most productive, and invited members to “please jump in, let us know, and we’ll have a powerful presence for business in Amador County with your help.”

The Board of Directors Election request included a list of committee volunteer opportunities. Sherbourne said the Executive Committee is voted in committee from candidates submitted.

There is also a Publicity and Public Relations Committee, with the main purpose to inform the public about the activities of the Chamber and to stimulate membership. Examples are information on ribbon cuttings, HomeGrown and media information.

She said a Membership Committee & Ambassador Program works to strengthen our membership base. A Fundraising Committee works on fundraising events such as golf tournaments and bowling tournament.

The Special Events Committee works side-by-side with the Fundraising, Tourism and Membership Committees, as a “hands on: group, Sherbourne said. They are responsible for the Chamber’s annual special events like the Business Person of the Year Award and they recommend new, innovative ideas for events. They also arrange forums and seminars for member education.

The Mixer Committee schedules mixers with members, and transports the beverages to the mixers. An Industrial Group Committee notifies members of regulatory inspections, pending regulations, and site events such as an open house.

For information, go to the Chamber office, at 115 Main Street in Jackson or call (209)223-0350.
