April 17th, 2014 -- (Volcano, CA) On Sunday, May 25th, Volcano will host Amador County’s first Wildfire Preparedness Game. It is free and open to the public from 4-6pm. Meeting location: Volcano Park.
The goal of the event is to share preparedness resources and build community resilience in a way that is engaging and fun for all ages.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZER
Jenny Gottstein grew up in Volcano and spent many hot summers cooling off at the creek. Now she works as a game producer at The Go Game in San Francisco. In 2010 she organized an Earthquake Preparedness Game for the Bay Area, and has since developed the concept of Disaster Preparedness Gaming. With the unprecedented drought conditions and alarming wildfires last summer, she is determined to apply her passion towards ensuring the safety of her hometown.

Activities will include:
1) Evacuation route map-making
2) Go Bag assembly relays
3) Family Feud-style fire safety quizzes
4) Creative wildfire preparedness videos
How much does it cost?

How big is each team? Can you play as individuals or in a group?
-Either way! We encourage families to play as a team, but you can play as an individual as well
Do you have to live in Volcano to play?
-Absolutely not! The game is designed to be helpful for anyone living in a rural area who wants to be prepared for wildfires.
Is there an age limit?
-No. Fun for all ages!
Is it possible to arrive late / leave early?
-Yes. Just check in at the Town Park when you arrive to get started.
