On August 1, 2014 at approximately 0102 hours, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 Emergency call from a resident in the unincorporated area of Jackson off Hwy 49. The caller stating that a subject and vehicle unknown to her or her husband were outside their residence and the subject was armed with a handgun. The caller stated that her husband had fired two rounds from his firearm into the air in an effort to scare the subject off their property, however the subject did not leave.
Upon arrival of Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies, Dale Lawrence Schaefer, 59, of Pioneer was detained in his vehicle. A loaded 9mm pistol was located on the front seat of Schaefer’s vehicle. A CHP Officer and a Jackson Police Officer assisted Sheriff’s Deputies with securing the scene.
After conducting a preliminary investigation, Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Schaefer and booked him into the Amador County Jail charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded and concealed firearm, being under the influence of a controlled substance and prowling.
