Solid Waste Nuisance Abatement in Pioneer

On July 20, 2015, Amador County Code Enforcement conducted a four day clean up of an illegal dump site in Pioneer. The clean up was done pursuant to an Administrative Abatement Order issued by the Amador County Board of Supervisors.

Contract services were provided by ACES, Kreth, and Foothill Garage and Wrecking. Approximately 15 tons of scrap metal and 170 waste tires were removed from the property for recycling and disposal. The scrap metal included 12 wrecked and dismantled car bodies many of which had been partially buried. Nearly 80 cubic yards of additional solid waste was removed including discarded appliances, furnishings, and household garbage.

The vehicle related portion of the clean up cost was funded by the Amador Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority. This is a state program approved by the voters of Amador County and administered by Code Enforcement. A $1 fee collected by DMV on all vehicles registered in the County at the time of registration is returned to the County for abandoned vehicle abatement.
