Those ballots must arrive no later than the close of polls this evening so those not already sent via U.S. mail have to be hand-delivered to be counted. Also, the Amador County Elections Department wants to remind you to please sign the back of the envelope of your absentee ballot when returning it. Polling places open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Secretary of State Bruce McPherson has predicted voter turnout at 55 percent. Amador County is traditionally much higher than the state average hitting above 85 percent in the last general election.
