The second accident occurred on Hwy
124 just north of brickyard Rd in Ione when a 17 year old Ione girl was driving
a 1984 Chevrolet S-10 southbound on 124 at approximately 45 miles per hour.
Her attention was diverted from the roadway as she reached for something in
vehicle. She allowed the Chevy to drift partially off the roadway onto the
shoulder. As she corrected back onto the roadway she subsequently overcorrected
heading into oncoming traffic. The young driver then once again corrected
loosing control of her vehicle overturning a full revolution. She was
transported to Sutter Amador Hospital with a complaint of pain to her head. Both
accidents are under investigation by the CHP. --The CHP also reports that on Saturday they issued about 100
tickets in just a matter of 6 hours. The CHP conducted another special
enforcement on Hurricane Hill on Hwy. 88. Specially trained officers used
Lidar, a new laser technology that is both more accurate and precise in pin
pointing a vehicles speed. This is the 4th time that the CHP has
conducted special enforcement using the Lidar on Hurricane Hill.
