Who will be required to apply for a permit to ride motorcycles and 4-wheelers on private property in the city limits is also likely to be controversial. The ordinance that the council reviewed at the last council meeting did not include an exemption for using 4-wheelers for ranching and herding. Council members asked staff to bring back a revised ordinance for their approval this week. And the council will also discuss changing the City’s Policy on Public Comments during City Council Meetings by decreasing the Time Limit of each Speaker from five minutes to three minutes. They will also consider authorizing the Mayor to impose reasonable over-all time limits on public comment, depending upon the length of the agenda. Plymouth City Council meets at 6:30 Thursday evening at PlymouthCity Hall.

The upcoming Plymouth City Council meeting
should prompt some lively discussion this week – issues on Thursday night’s agenda include initiating
interaction with Native American tribes regarding the proposed casino in
Plymouth, requiring permits for riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers on
private property, and shortening up the time speakers are allowed for public
comment at council meetings. Plymouth
citizens at the last City Council meeting accused the council of intentional
inaction on the casino issue – Thursday night the council will discuss entering
into an agreement between the County of Amador and the City of Plymouth to form
a joint committee for future consultation with the Ione Band of Miwok Indians
and/or the Historic Band of Miwok Indians.
