The victim in the fiery accident Thursday morning has been identified as 44 year old Manual Calderon of Stockton.

As the storm moved in Friday night so did the accident reports. A Non Injury accident occurred around 9:30 PM on Hwy 88 near Nob Hill.  Due to the rain and wind blown debris, the female driver lost sight of her lane and skidded on the rain slick pine needles striking the embankment and then rolling over on Highway 88 blocking the west bound lane.

Weekend accidents kicked off with an accident on Tabeaud Road just east of East Clinton Road. Kevin Flock, 19 of Pioneer, was traveling east bound on Tabeaud Road at 45 mph when according to Officer Patrick Ong’s report, he attempted to negotiate a sharp blind curve located at the intersection of E. Clinton Road and Tabeaud. Ong notes that this intersection has a limited sight alignment of less than 100 feet. As Flock entered the curve, his speed was too fast according to Ong’s report, and the rear tires of his 1998 Nissan began to break traction on the roadway and as a result the vehicle began to spin in a clockwise motion. In an effort to control the spinning vehicle, Flock steered into the spin and accelerated. Thomas Caudell, 42 of Pine Grove was traveling westbound on Tabeaud Road at 25 mph approaching the same curve that Flock was trying to negotiate.

At 9:55pm last night a single vehicle accident was reported on Shakeridge Rd near Hale Rd. The vehicle left the roadway hitting a tree and trapping a 17 year old male inside. The victim was extricated and transported to Sutter Amador Hospital with a laceration to his head.

The statewide program Click It or Ticket campaign held May 21st through June 3rd was a big success locally, according to CHP Public Information Officer Craig Harmon. Harmon said the Amador Unit of CHP ticketed 58 people for seat belt violations. Seat belts were not the only thing Officers were looking for as others received tickets for not having front license plates, tinted windows, and other traffic violations. “While we are out primarily looking for seat belt volitions and child restraints violations we are also looking to make contacts for any safety violations and to remind motorist on the stops about the hazards of drinking and driving and not wearing seat belts,” said Harmon. He also added that seat belts save lives and stated, “Over memorial day weekend 22 Californians lost their lives on the our Highways and 11 of them were not wearing seat belts, so that’s 50%.”  The State has not yet released the all of the results for CHP units statewide.

Yesterday continuing through today Cal Fire crews will continue to conduct “Live Fire Training” exercises for fire apparatus engineers. The training is happening just off of Hwy 104 near the Amador/Sacramento County line on the “Chance Ranch”. According to Cal Fire Public Information Officer Tobie Edmonds live fire training is one of the best tools used by Cal Fire to train their fire apparatus engineers. Cal Fire crews, concluding engines, dozers and hand crews were joined by several engines from the Sac metro Fire department.

Yesterday afternoon an accident occurred in front of the Jackson Creek Plaza located just off of Hwy. 49. Apparently the driver of this green truck was pulling out of the parking lot in front of Longs Drug Store and attempting to turn left towards downtown Jackson. For an unknown reason the driver of the truck did not seen the red SUV that was headed south on Hwy. 49 out of Jackson. As a result the red SUV hit the green truck T-boning it and causing the truck to spin around and land up against the guardrail on the opposite side of the road. The Jackson Police Department and Jackson Fire responded to the accident.

 

Last night around 7:15 a wildland fire was reported on the Oro De Amador Property. The fire was reported burning behind some of the homes located on the Placer Drive area. Jackson Fire and Cal Fire Crews quickly responded and the fire was contained.

Yesterday at approximately 1pm an accident was reported on Sutter Creek Volcano road across from Pine Gulch Court. The accident was described by the person who called it in as severe. A helicopter as well as an ambulance was immediately called in for what was now revealed as a 2 vehicle accident. Shortly there after a second ambulance was called in to help accommodate 3 injured people.
