The East Bay Municipal Utility District Board of Directors has agreed to remove consideration from their update of a new Mokelumne Watershed Master Plan that mobile home owners will be evicted. The utility’s Board of Directors met yesterday and heard the options for the updated watershed plan which originally contained the option of evicting the mobile home residents.
The agenda at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisor’s meeting was light but there was no shortage of public comment for items not on the agenda. First to approach the Board was Nicholas Villa, Jr., who identified himself as the traditional chief of the Ione Band of Mi-Wok Indians.
A growing business in the Ione area is getting some water relief from Amador County. The Board of Supervisors approved a letter of intent for a lease of their Carbondale business park well for the US Tile Plant.
More good news for several historically related projects in Amador County. Three county projects will be headed for the final round for consideration of funding by the California Culture and Historical Endowment.

The Worker’s Compensation Fraud Unit headed by the Amador County District attorney’s office is making National headlines for a worker’s compensation case with a twist. This case is not your typical employee claiming an on the job injury. This case involved two managers accused of discouraging employees from reporting actual on the job claims.
Jackson City Council met Monday night to a large audience and full agenda, which focused mainly on the Jackson Hills Development Project. The Municipal Services Agreement between the City of Plymouth and the Ione band of Miwok Indians was originally adopted in February of 2004. Shortly after that adoption, in March of 2004, two complaints were filed with the Amador Superior Court saying the city had wrongly adopted the MSA. One complaint was made by Amador County and the other by the No Casino in Plymouth organization (NCIP).
The El Dorado National Forest is developing an application for California Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Cooperative funds for the upcoming 2007-2008 cycle. The Forest Service anticipates submitting the application which will include funding requests for several different aspects of the regulation and support of OHV usage.
