Special Weekend Weather Report

slide6-special_weekend_weather_report.pngThe National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Friday, May 13, saying an unseasonably cool and showery weather pattern is expected over interior Northern California this weekend, including the northeastern Foothills and Mother Lode. The weather pattern is forecast to change drastically this weekend. A large and cold low-pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska will move southward and be off the Northern California coastline on Saturday, moving inland by Sunday. High temperatures are forecast to be about 10-15 degrees below normal Saturday, ranging from the 40s and 50s in the mountains to the 60s to low 70s in the Valley. By Sunday, high temperatures are forecast to be about 15-25 degrees below normal, or 30s and 40s in the mountains, 50s in the Foothills and 60s in the Valley. Low temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens to 20s in the mountains, 30s to low 40s in the Foothills and 40s in the Valley by Monday morning. The cold low-pressure system will be unstable and showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly Saturday night and Sunday. Showers may linger into Monday, especially over the Sierra Nevada. Snow levels are expected to lower below the passes Saturday night and Sunday, getting down to around 4,000 feet. Accumulating snow is possible with the highest amounts up to 4 inches near Sierra ridge tops. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
