The Board of the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, at the September 2013 Board Meeting, approved the publication of our Fire Threat report. This is the fifth in our series of System Indicator reports, characterizing conditions in the 25 million acre Sierra Nevada Region. This latest report quantifies fire threat class by land ownership and Subregion (county-level data available by request) and acres burned annually for recent years by land ownership, Subregion, threat class, and vegetation class. The report also examines threat class and fire history related to the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI), and looks toward future efforts to track fire severity and the impacts of forest treatments.
We hope the this Fire Threat report will be a useful resource for Sierra Nevada land managers and all stakeholders in the Region.
