An easement dispute between two neighbors ended in the arrest of one of those neighbors for battery. The incident was reported around 12:30 pm on Wednesday on Robin Rd. in Pioneer. The neighbor, identified later as Bill Matz, became irritated after discovering his neighbor’s truck parked in the easement, which Matz stated should be clear at all times. Matz asked for the truck to be moved. When it was not moved immediately the confrontation became verbal and the escalated to a physical confrontation. According to the Amador County Sheriff’s Department, Matz reportedly grabbed his neighbor by the neck damaging a necklace the neighbor was wearing. The neighbor then reported that Matz told him that he had a gun and that he was going to shoot him with it.  That’s when the neighbor called 911. Upon arrival on scene, Amador County Sheriff Deputies blocked the roadway easement to secure the scene. After a search of both properties Matz was located by deputies and taken into custody. The neighbor then filed a complaint against Matz with Amador County Sheriff’s Department sand Matz was arrested for criminal threats and. Apparently the dispute between the two neighbors has been escalating for some time over the use of the easement.
