Caltrans will conduct maintenance and pavement repair operations requiring the full daytime closure of State Route 12 from Interstate 5 in San Joaquin County to state Highway 160 in Sacramento County. Bob Boswell, Caltrans public information officer in District 10, said work will begin on Tuesday, September 15th and continue daily until Thursday, September 17th. Work will be done between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., during which Highway 12 will be closed to all traffic. Detours will be posted, and motorists should consider using Interstate 80 and I-5 as alternate routes and should allow additional travel time due to the detour. Access to local residents, businesses and emergency services will be allowed. Caltrans has scheduled the 3-day closure to minimize impacts to the traveling public. Boswell said “this complete road closure will allow Stockton and Rio Vista maintenance crews to do simultaneous repair work at an accelerated rate.” Story by Alex Lane.
