Stockton Motorists can expect a shift in traffic lanes on southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) from Country Club Boulevard to Fremont Street for construction activities. The lane shift is scheduled to be in place for approximately six months.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform the lane shift on Thursday, September 4, 2014, after 4:00 a.m.

The #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes on southbound I-5 will be detoured onto the northbound traffic lanes of the interstate. Southbound motorists must stay in the #3 (right) lane for off-ramp access to Country Club Boulevard, Pershing Avenue, and Mount Diablo Avenue.

The lane shift is part of the $46 million I-5 Rehabilitation Project. Crews are replacing the existing roadway, which will improve pavement life and provide a smoother driving surface.

Morning commuters should be alert to changes in the road the day of the shift. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction related issues.

For the safety of workers and other motorists, please Slow For the Cone Zone.
