Local Authors Looking For Your Help

slide28Local authors, and Husband and wife team, Kimberly Wooten and R. Scott Baxter, are looking for your help. Currently the historical archaeologists and longtime Amador County residents, are putting the finishing touches on a photographic history of winemaking in Amador County, with an emphasis on the Shenandoah Valley.

The couples first book, Sutter Creek, was published under the same Images of America series by Arcadia Publishing. One of the chapters in the new book is titled “Drinking Wine: People & Places” and they’re looking to get a few more historic photographs of local people drinking wine.  Images should reflect the county’s local history, from the Shenandoah Valley to Clinton and beyond, and be of families from the county, preferably dating to 1950 or earlier.

So if you have a favorite photograph of your grandparents toasting with a glass of wine from 1908, the couple would love to see it! In addition, if you have historic images of your family working in the wine industry—stomping grapes or plowing a vineyard—they’d be thrilled to have the opportunity to include those as well.  They can scan an image at your home quickly, and if they use it in the book they will reference your contribution in the text and give you a copy of the book when it’s published. Only catch is that they’re just about out of time.  Images will need to be received no later than August 10th to be included in the final draft to the publisher.  Please contact either Kimberly Wooten or Scott Baxter at (209) 223-2771 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
