Ione Talks Bypass-Studies Process in Community Meeting
Tuesday night an Ione Interim West Bypass
Community Meeting was held at Ione Junior High, the meeting was presented by
the Amador County Transportation Commission and Dokken Engineering. The topics
discussed at the meeting included Project Background and Initiation,
Alternative Analysis, Approval of Route Adoption and Environmental Document,
Design and then finally Construction.
The length of the proposed steps from Project
Initiation, the phase the project is currently in and Design/Construction is
approximately 3-4 years. It was stated that the August 14th meeting
was only one of 3 public workshops that would be held to gather community
input. The other 2 are scheduled for mid-November and also mid-January. Along
with public workshops, the determination for the purpose and need for the
project, the identification of alternative alignments, evaluation of
alternatives and determination of the preferred alternative, and the conceptual
approval of the approved alignment is also included in the project initiation
phase. During the meeting small maps, which showed the proposed interim bypass
lines were handed out to the audience in an effort to collect alternatives
designs from community residents. Comments are also being taken by Dokken
Engineering for the proposed project, as Juan Ramos stated Dokken wants to make
sure that “they don’t miss anything.”
