Cook was charged with multiple charges in relation to the accident, including driving under the influence. Cook took a plea bargain in Amador Superior Court recently. The details of the plea are that Cook pled guilty to Count I (Penal Code sec. 191.5(a)--gross vehicular manslaughter), Count III (Vehicle Code sec. 23153(a)—Driving Under the Influence causing injury, and admitted a special allegation pursuant to Penal Code section 12022.7, the personal infliction of great bodily injury. The remaining counts against Cook were dismissed. Cook is expected to be sentenced to 13 years and 8 months in state prison. That sentence will be suspended for 5 years of formal felony probation. One of the conditions of that probation is that Cook serve 1 year in County Jail. The remaining probation conditions will be determined at sentencing which occur on 1/9/07 at 9 a.m.

Driver Plea Bargined In Death Of Popular School Teacher
Justice has taken its course in the death of beloved school teacher Suzette Arnese Cone. Arnese-Cone was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 on Highway 88 east of Irishtown Road. Arnese-Cone was a popular Jackson junior High Teacher. The accident was caused when Kerry Cook of Pioneer, then 39 years old, struck Mrs. Arnese- Cone’s vehicle. Arnese-Cone died at the scene and Kerry Cook was flown via air ambulance to the Davis hospital for a fractured leg. Her 5-year-old female passenger was flown to the hospital as well for lacerations to the forehead, chin and nose and for stomach pain.
