Two Special Legislative Sessions called for to Deal With Healthcare Reform and Water Issue

Not one, but two, special legislative sessions is what Gov. Schwarzenegger has called for to deal with healthcare reform and water issues. The current legislative session is scheduled to end this Friday. The State Legislature still has hundreds of bills before it. Schwarzenegger also has a number of measures to sign or veto. In announcing the special sessions, the governor said the stalled state budget negotiations put other legislative work behind. There are at least two healthcare reforms proposals to be considered; one put forth by Schwarzenegger and the other a Democratic-sponsored plan.  Also, the governor wants lawmakers to take up his proposals for more ground and surface water storage, a new water conveyance system and Delta preservation.
