The Department of Water Resources to Present Workshops
The
Department of Water Resources (DWR) has scheduled three workshops to gather
additional input on the Integrated Regional Water Management program
as funded by Propositions 84 and 1E. These
workshops will present program concepts for the IRWM Program Guidelines and
solicit public input on those concepts. The state Department of Water Resources is hoping to
receive early, specific input and provide a clear understanding to interested
stakeholders regarding the current status of the IRWM Program Guidelines.
The IRAMP program is being pursued by the Amador
Water Agency through a regional approach involving both entities in Amador,
Calaveras and San Juan
Counties. The Plan is called the
Mokelumne-Amador-Calaveras Integrated Water Management Plan and involves the
Amador Water Agency • East Bay Municipal Utility District• Amador County
• City of Jackson • Amador Regional Sanitation
Authority • City of Plymouth
• Calaveras County Water District • City of Sutter Creek. The Agencies
have already signed a memorandum of understanding for the Mokelumne, Amador,
and Calaveras (M/A/C) region. The region encompasses the majority of the
Mokelumne and Calaveras River watersheds, Amador
County, and parts of Alpine, Calaveras
and San Joaquin County. The goal of the joint plan is to
better manage existing resources and plan for future conditions. The IRWMP
reflects the region’s diversity and goals for ensuring a reliable water supply,
reduction in flood related impacts, and preservation of water quality and the
environment.
