Amador County – A shooting and homicide investigation Tuesday led to the seizure of drugs and guns on Carbondale Road, and guns, cash and drugs in a separate Sacramento County raid.
Amador County Undersheriff Jim Wegner release details about the ongoing homicide investigation and related investigation Wednesday. He said: “Detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office and the Amador County Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team drafted and executed search warrants for the property” on Carbondale Road, where a gang-related shootout, and homicide occurred.
He said the FBI Sacramento Evidence Response Team is assisting in processing the crime scene. During execution of the search warrants, “additional firearms were located on the property including semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and an assault rifle.” Also found at the scene was 779 marijuana plants, “elaborate indoor cultivation rooms,” and about “8 pounds of processed marijuana.”
During the investigation, a “subject claiming to be associated with the property arrived,” Wegner said. The Subject said he and three others “were cooperatively cultivating medicinal marijuana at the property. The subject was able to provide medical recommendations for 198 marijuana plants. The subject reported that the decedent was responsible for construction and marijuana cultivation at the property. A subsequent search of this subject’s residence in Elk Grove revealed an additional marijuana cultivation site with approximately 200 marijuana plants.”
Wegner said the Amador Sheriff’s Office “has been collaborating with gang officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office” and “simultaneous to the execution of the search warrants in Amador County, Sacramento Police officers and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence within Sacramento County which is associated with the subjects in custody in Amador County. Execution of that search warrant resulted in the detection of another marijuana cultivation site, other drugs, firearms and a large quantity of cash.”
Wegner said ACSO also received assistance and support in the investigation from California Highway Patrol, Ione Police Department, American Legion Ambulance, Amador Fire Protection District, Mule Creek Fire Department and Cal-Fire. He said the investigation is continuing and additional charges may be requested from the Amador County District Attorney’s Office if the evidence supports new filings.
