Amador County – Amador Fire Safe Council recently announced plans to hold the first of a series of “stakeholder meetings” for its efforts to create a Community Conservation Wildfire Protection Plan in Pine Grove.
Cathy Koos Breazeal said the Amador Fire Safe Council was “awarded a $50,000 grant by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy to develop a Community Conservation Wildfire Protection Plan for the greater Pine Grove area,” and will be hosting the first stakeholder meeting Nov. 7.
The Wildfire Protection Plan “includes the traditional aspects of a community wildfire plan with the addition of conservation elements aimed at watershed protection and forest health as well as protecting the community and its structures from the catastrophic effects of wildfire,” Breazeal said.
“Community risk assessments, evacuation routes, fire behavior and history are all elements of the plan,” she said. The recently completed Pioneer-Volcano plan can be viewed on the Amador Fire Safe Council website.
Breazeal said “stakeholder input is a critical part of this project,” so the Council “will be collaborating with the public and incorporating their input to the plan.”
She said Amador Fire Safe Council invites the public to attend the first of a series of public information and stakeholder events 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 at the Volcano Tech Center, 19888 Church Street in Pine Grove.
