Amador County – Two local men shared a $13,000 poker Jackpot last Friday at Jackson Rancheria Casino in Jackson.
Marketing Department Content Developer Carol Cook said Ted Woods of Pioneer and Howard Little of Mokelumne Hill hit the “Bad Beat Jackpot” in the Poker Room at Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel Dec. 9.
A “Bad Beat” is “when a normally good hand of Aces Full of Jacks or better is beaten by a hand of greater value in a game of Texas Hold ’Em.”
“In this instance,” Cook said, Little had a pair of Queens as his hole cards and Woods had an Ace and a 10, with a flop of 9, Ace and 5. The turn and river delivered a pair of Aces to give Little a hand of Aces Full of Queens and Woods four Aces with a 10 kicker.
Little, with the losing (Bad Beat) hand, won 50 percent of the jackpot for $6,868, and Woods with the winning hand got 30 percent, or $4,120. The remaining 20 percent was shared by the table.
Jackson Rancheria’s Poker Room is open 24 hours and features nine tables of Texas Hold ’Em, Omaha and Stud with low limit, high limit and no limit games.
