Home for the Holidays Update

Now it’s time for TSPN’s Home for the Holidays series – featuring fun, free or low cost activities for the whole family to enjoy right here in Amador County, now through New Years Day! Here’s a look at what’s coming up this weekend:

The Interfaith Community of Choirs will perform at the Sutter Creek Open House, Saturday evening, December 8th. Their concert at the Methodist church will start following 6:30 pm Los Posadas candlelight Walk that begins at the Immaculate Conception Church on Spanish Street and ends at the Methodist Church. The concert is free to the public and will include music from their Festival of Carols concert, as well as, holiday sing-along songs.

 

Toys for the Troops’ Kids Christmas Toy Drive is be sponsored this year by Jackson Sylvan Learning. Toys are being collected for the children of American military personnel deployed away from home this Christmas, and for kids whose military parents have been killed in action.  You can drop off unwrapped, new toys and monetary donations during normal business hours at the Jackson Sylvan Learning center located at 223 Clinton Road, Suite 205 (next to DMV). The drive will continue through December 15th.

Amador High School Musical Theatre proudly presents “Seussical” in the Fine Arts Theatre at Amador High School the first two weeks in December. The curtain will open on this musical extravaganza Saturday December 8th at 2 pm for a special benefit for the Amador Fine Arts Camp, for $10. The regular performances then run: Saturday December 8th at 7 pm, Tuesday and Thursday December 11th and 13th at 6:30, and Friday December 14th at 7 pm. These performances have an admission charge of $8. For more information call 267-0108.

Community Christmas Carols. Come join your friends and neighbors on Tuesday, December 11th at 7pm at the Jackson UnitedMethodist Church and raise your voices in holiday song. There will be hot cider and cookies afterwards. All are welcome.

Ione will hold their Annual Christmas Parade & Open House on Saturday December 8 starting at 4PM on Main Street in downtown Ione and continues until 7:00pm. The Annual event will include an arts and crafts. Children can get their picture taken with Santa. This event follows the annual RED RIBBON CHOIR after school program at Ione Elementary School which starts at 2:00 p.m. Donations are accepted at the door.  This is a favorite for the 50-plus elementary school children who participate. 

Santa Paws is coming to the Feed Barn, December 8th from 10am till 4pm. Come get your pet’s picture taken with Santa. All proceeds benefit A-Pal Humane Society of Amador County.Each $5 donation will be matched by the Feed Barn.

Enjoy a festive half-hour ride around the extraordinarily decorated Jackson Rancheria Casino. Free Holiday Hay Rides are offered now through December 13, Monday through Thursday evenings, starting at the Rancheria Hotel. Dress in warm clothes and afterwards, enjoy a visit with Santa for the kids and refreshments for everyone. Holiday Hay Rides run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rancheria staff members will also be collecting toys for the Amador Sheriff's Office annual Christmas Toy Drive. Bring your camera for this great family photo opportunity.
