Amador County – Amador County Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested a Pine Grove man last week for possession and sale of methamphetamine, among other charges, at a residence in Jackson.
The Amador County Sheriff’s Department said Dirk A. Caviglia, 36, of Pine Grove was arrested Jan. 26 on an active CDCR Parole warrant, a felony evading arrest warrant from Calaveras County, and on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance and violation of parole.
Amador County Undersheriff Jim Wegner released details of the incident Wednesday: “On Jan. 26, the Amador County Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team obtained information” that “Caviglia was at a residence on Erinn Place in Jackson. ACCNET was aware that Caviglia was wanted as a Parolee-At-Large, was wanted on an active felony arrest warrant from Calaveras County, and he was reportedly involved with trafficking controlled substances.
“ACCNET began surveillance of the area and observed Caviglia moving back and forth between a vehicle and a residence. ACCNET contacted the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Fugitive Apprehension Team and requested they draft a Stegald Warrant for the residence.”
As the drafting of the warrant took place, “Caviglia was observed entering a vehicle. As he began to drive out of the culdesac, ACCNET agents, assisted by two Jackson Police Officers and an Amador County Sheriff’s Canine Unit attempted to detain him. Caviglia attempted to evade detention by driving the vehicle in reverse, back to the residence.
“Caviglia then fled on foot, back into the residence and subsequently back outside where he was arrested by ACCNET agents as he attempted to access his vehicle. A search of Caviglia found he was in possession of suspected methamphetamine, and a scale and packaging materials.”
