After his discharge from the Army in 1985, Ray was hired by the Amador County Sheriff’s Office where he has served as Deputy Sheriff and sergeant, field training officer, firearms instructor, SWAT Team member, Dive Team member and narcotics detective. RayAl Lennox was born in New Jersey and attended Canoga Park High School in California. In 1964, Lennox joined the United States Navy as a meteorologist and during the Vietnam Conflict, he was stationed in South China and was responsible for flight forecasting and worked in Upper Air Research. Lennox attended Magna Carta University in San Francisco and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He went on to become a regional manager of Gemco retail stores for over twenty years before becoming employed with American Legion Ambulance Service. In 1990, Lennox became a paramedic with American Legion Ambulance and in 1992 was promoted to General Manager. was recently promoted to the position of Lieutenant and currently oversees the Patrol and Dispatch Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.
Lennox is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Emergency Medical Care Committee, the Knights of Columbus, and the Amador County Disaster Management Team. He serves on a number of community non-profit boards. While under his leadership, the American Legion Ambulance Service has been transformed from a small operation to a regional leader comparable to any nationally recognized ambulance service. After the presentation of the resolutions, both men thanked their co-workers, and especially, their wives for their support over the years.
