The Supervisors Land Use Committee of Supervisor Vice Chairman Richard Forster and Chairman Louis Boitano met on Feb. 16 and held a meeting to review and discuss the setbacks outlined in Title 19 and Chapter 15.30 as they pertain to defensible space setbacks and fire safety. Six members of the public attended the Land Use Committee workshop and provided information about their concerns. The Committee directed that a workshop be scheduled, to be hosted by the Board of Supervisors, so this matter can be discussed further.

The workshop is set for 2-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 in the County Administration Building at 810 Court Street in Jackson. The agenda for the meeting is available on the county website.

The Board of Supervisors noticed the meeting on its website and in the Admin building, and invited California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Amador County Fire Safe Council, and any and all interested people and business owners to attend and participate in the workshop.

For information, or answers to questions about the workshop, call the Supervisors at (209)223-6470.

Lynn Morgan, chairwoman of the Upcountry Community Council announced the public workshop in an email to UCC members and interested parties. She said she has “been asked to encourage Upcountry folks to attend since this is such a critical issue for us all.” She said the workshop will be an important meeting regarding “High Risk Fire Areas.”
