The foundation has provided emergency support services to the families of seriously injured and firefighters killed in the line of duty. This past fire season has been very intensive, long and devastating. Just this month alone in California 5 firefighters were lost on the Esperanza Fire and 2 off duty firefighters on the Cleveland National Forest fire.
To raise funds to help the victims and their families the Wildland fire community is working together and participating in a 52 mile walk to raise funds for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. The Eldorado Hot Shots along with hundreds of others will be walking the full 52 miles non-stop. The public is invited to participate in this volunteer event. The Goal for this fundraising effort is to Raise $52,000 or more for the foundation. The date of the event is December 9 & 10, 2006 (It is a 24 hour event) Rain or Shine at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, American River Bike Trail.
