According to Officer Brandon Hallam’s report the unknown driver was driving a 1989 BMW east bound on Shakeridge Road, when it appears that the driver allowed the vehicle to drift off of the south roadway edge. The driver then overcorrected and lost control of the BMW and slid across the westbound lane and onto the north shoulder, where the vehicle collided with a barbed wire fence and a tree. Following the collision the occupants fled the scene prior to CHP’s arrival.
Yesterday at 12:00pm an accident occurred on Hwy. 88 west of Sugarloaf Road. According to CHP Officer Patrick Ong’s report, Suzette Ryan of Linden and Tammie Hamblen of Yerington Nevada were both driving west bound on Hwy. 88 in separate vehicles. Ong reports that the women were driving at 35-40 miles per hour and negotiating a series of curves respectively. As Hamblen exited a curve to her right she observed that a vehicle in front of her was stopping, she immediately applied her brakes and stopped, however Ryan who was following to closely applied her brakes as well but was unable to stop. She impacted the rear of Hamblen’s vehicle. Neither of the women were injured in the accident.
Hours later an accident occurred on hwy. 88 west of Martell Road. According to Officer Jeremy Dobler’s report Joyce Trotter of Pioneer was traveling east bound on Hwy. 88 approaching Martell Road. Frank Digirolamo of Jackson was also traveling east bound behind Trotter. According to the report Trotter observed emergency vehicles approaching westbound and yielded, as per law. Digirolamo failed to slow in time and collided with the rear of Trotters vehicle. Thankfully both drivers were uninjured.
