Caudell slowed his speed to make a right turn onto E. Clinton Road however noticed that Flock was exiting the same curve at a high rate of speed. Flock observed that he was headed directly for Caudell’s vehicle and tried to steer to the right while, Caudell steered his vehicle to the dirt shoulder. Flock’s vehicle proceeded to cross the center of the road and the Nissan subsequently collided with the left rear of Caudell’s 2002 Pontiac Grand Am causing the Caudell’s car to also spin. Both men left the accident uninjured.
Also, the CHP report has been released on the accident that occurred on Hwy. 88 just east of Columbia Drive on Friday at 9:30pm. Teresa Wade, 44 and of Pine Grove, was traveling on west bound Hwy. 88 during a winter storm with strong winds. According to Officer Patrick Ong’s report Pine Needles and leaves covered the roadway and Wade was having difficulty seeing the roadway lines due to the leaves and pine needles as well as the fact that it was dark and raining. Wade was attempting to negotiate a left curve at 45 mph as she had failed to notice the posted speed of 30 mph. Due to her failure to reduce her speed for the adverse conditions she failed to negotiate the curve safely and her vehicle ran off the road and collided with an embankment causing the 1995 Toyota to overturn blocking the north bound lane of the Highway.
On Saturday a serious accident occurred on Jackson Gate Road at approximately 6:44pm involving two teens. A 17 year old male of Sutter Creek was driving a 1999 Chevy Silverado eastbound on Jackson Gate Road east of Hwy. 49. According to Officer Melissa Scobee’s report, the young driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and allowed his truck to travel off of the north roadway edge. The right passenger’s side door impacted a tree pinning a 17 year old female passenger from Ione in the truck. The passenger had to be extricated upon emergency’s personnel’s arrival. The driver sustained minor injuries including lacerations to his hands while the female passenger suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. She was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with severe head injuries and fractured ribs.
The accidents then continued through Sunday when an accident occurred on Hwy. 88 just west of Panther Creek Road. Eric Dadmehr, 44 of Sacramento was driving his 2005 Toyota Tundra westbound on Hwy. 88 when he observed a vehicle traveling east bound and thought the vehicle to be partially in his lane. Officer Melissa Scobee’s report indicates that Dadmehr steered towards the south roadway edge and overcorrected causing the Toyota to travel off the roadway and overturn. Dadmehr was uninjured in the accident.
