Citizen Input Sought For Ag Element Of General Plan

slide17Amador County is deeply involved in the process of updating its general plan. This plan will be the “master plan” for the future development of the county and will aid the county in either keeping the Amador we know or changing into a new place. Now the need for information from agricultural stakeholders cannot be stressed enough. To that end, an Agricultural Stakeholder's Workshop has been scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Amador County Administrative Center, 810 Court, Street, Jackson, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for county residents with agricultural interests, whether they are active or passive, to voice concerns about the issues facing agriculture in Amador County, and discuss the possible solutions to those issues. All issues and solutions discussed in this workshop will be brought back to the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) as public comment. Bring your concerns and solutions. Here are two questions to think about before coming to the workshop: 1.  What issues will agricultural operations in Amador County face in the next twenty five years? 2.  How can these issues be addressed? A draft document for the general plan update will not be drafted at this meeting.  However issues and possible solutions will be formatted and will be forwarded to the GPAC and the County's consultant. If you have any questions, please call either the Amador County Planning Department at 223-6380 or the Amador County Department of Agriculture at 223-6487.
