Late Friday afternoon traffic on Ridge Rd was tied up due to a traffic collision. However there was even more of a drama in the traffic back up as local law enforcement positioned themselves to pull over a stolen car. Apparently, a Sutter Creek police officer had ran the plates of the gray colored Hyundai Elantra when that vehicle made its way through the city. The plate return on the car came back as stolen out of Stockton.

The officer then called for back up from other on duty Sutter Creek officers, Jackson Police, Amador County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and the California Highway patrol. Due to the back up the responding law enforcement agencies had plenty of time to get into position and the decision was made to pull the car over in a driveway near Hamrick’s grade. Once in position the stop was made and the woman from Stockton, who was driving the car, was arrested, suspected of driving a stolen car. She was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana. She booked at the County Jail by Sutter Creek Police. This incident is under investigation by the Sutter Creek Police Department.
