The Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU) of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) is announcing the end of the burn suspension today, November 3, 2006, for Amador and El Dorado Counties.

Burn permits will still be required because AEU will still be in fire season. Please make sure you have a valid burn permit (free at local fire stations) and that you call the burn information line immediately prior to lighting your pile(s) on fire.

Keep in mind if the fire were to escape your control or burn the property of someone else, you could face civil liability and criminal charges.

Don’t forget the following proper burning techniques:

Call your Local Burn information number to make sure it is a permissive burn day, because the Air Pollution Control District still controls whether or not you can burn. The Number for Amador County Air Pollution Control District is (209) 223-6246.

• Never Leave your fire unattended.

•Make sure you have proper clearance. Cut to mineral soil around the pile(s) and have a shovel and hose on sight so that you can quickly put out any fire that may escape from the burn pile(s).

Do not burn on windy days, the wind can carry fire brands and set fires quite a distance from your original burn pile(s).

Be considerate of your neighbors and where the smoke from your burn piles may drift.

•If you have questions or concerns about proper burning techniques, please contact your local fire station personnel for further information. In case of an emergency, call 911.
