Bill Haigh, Folsom Field Office manager for the BLM stated that when this plan is completed, it will provide resource management direction and guidance for more than 230,000 acres of BLM-administered public lands scattered throughout fourteen Central California counties: including Amador, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Mariposa, Merced, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tuolumne, and Yuba counties. "It is important that people look over the draft plan, see what we've done, and let us know what they think," Haigh said, "The results of public review are always considered when the time comes to make a final decision." Copies of the draft Sierra RMP/EIS are available from the Folsom Field Office, 63 Natoma Street, Folsom, CA 95630, or on line at www.ca.blm.gov/folsom. The Bureau of Land Management, BLM, held a public meeting to present the draft Sierra Resource Management Plan (RMP) last night at Sonora High School in Sonora. The purpose of the meeting was to hear public comments and concerns on the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the plan which will impact some 20.2 miles of the Mokelumne River and BLM lands within Amador and Calaveras Counties. The draft RMP presents alternatives for BLM policy on fuel reduction, wild and scenic river status for 20.2 miles of the Mokelumne River, land acquisition and disposal, minerals development, recreation, target shooting, areas of critical environmental concern, and other issues.
