The school board race is also competitive for the two former Jackson Unified seats with three candidates, Dr. David L. Dutra, W. Patrick "Pat" Miller and Lynnette Lipp. In the Old Ore Madre district the two incumbents, both appointed to fill terms vacated by members that moved from the area, Chuck Anderson and Paul, PJ, Karnaze are both unopposed. Competitive City Council races include Jackson and Ione. In the City of Ione 5 candidates are vying for the 3 open seats. Those candidates are Jim Ulm, Jeff Barnhart, Oral M. Custer, Lee Ard and Chester "Skip" Schaufel.
In the City of
Jackson two city council seats
are being sought by Connie Gonsalves, Andrew "Andy" Rodriguez and
Marilyn L. Lewis. In Amador City, Sutter Creek and Plymouth incumbents
are re-seeking their current seats with no competitors entering the race.
Current Water Agency Directors, Heinz Hamann, district1, Terrance Moore,
District 5 and Dan Brown, district 4 are all unopposed for those Water Agency
Board seats.
Voters will be asked to decide on measure K the AMADOR COUNTY
TRAFFIC SAFETY AND IMPROVEMENT MEASURE. The question before voters is should Amador County adopt
Ordinance 1649 establishing a ½-cent retail transaction and use tax in the
County and its cities to implement the Transportation Safety and Improvement
Plan and authorize issuance of bonds up to $100 million secured by tax proceeds
for funding of transportation projects, including: improving safety and
traffic flow on Highways 104, 49 and 88 fixing pavement and filling potholes on
local roads building sidewalks and improving pedestrian safety? Also on the ballot
is Measure L a ¼ CENT
TRANSACTIONS AND USE TAX FOR FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES.
The question voters will answer tomorrow is Shall Amador County adopt the Ordinance
1650 establishing a ¼ cent retail transaction and use tax in the County and its
cities to implement the fire protection and emergency response services set
forth in the Ordinance, specifically for: Payment of salaries, benefits
and related costs for paid fire fighter-emergency medical personnel to staff
existing fire stations; Support volunteers by funding volunteer insurance,
training and incentive programs; and a Provision of oversight/administration of
paid personnel? Polls
