Accident Investigation This past weekend was relatively quiet for the California Highway Patrol on local roadways. On Friday Officer Brian Hagemann investigated an accident that occurred on Hwy 49 at Martell Rd. The 3;30 pm accident occurred when Birthe Christensen of Sutter Creek stopped behind another vehicle on northbound Hwy 49 at the Martell Rd. stopsign. Dawn Parla of Pioneer then stopped behind Christensen and allowed her foot to slip off of the brake pedal rolling into the rear bumper of Christensen. Saturday Officer Chris Zaragoza, while on patrol in the upcountry area, responded to a report of an accident Hwy 88 at Kay’s Rd.

Accident InvestigationApparently, according to Officer Zaragoza’s report, an unknown driver lost control of a 2003 PT Cruiser striking a guardrail. The vehicle was abandoned at the scene and the driver had fled before the Officer’s arrival. Sunday was the busiest day of the weekend beginning just after the stroke of midnight when at 12:16 am Officer Deborah Zaragoza responded to an accident on Stoney Creek Rd about 5 miles west of Argonaut Drive. The single vehicle accident involving a 93 Buick was caused when, according to the CHP report, 21 Year old driver N. Stojanovich allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway due to his level of intoxication. The car then struck a rock, a paddle marker, and a vinyl fence post. The car then overturned and came to rest on its roof blocking the eastbound lane of traffic. Stojanovich and his 17 year old passenger both reported minor injuries, Stojanovich was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Later Sunday morning around 9:30 Officer Frank Peixoto reports that a 2 vehicle accident occurred on Curran Rd in the Camanche area, just north of Quiver Drive. The accident was caused when Dorothy Pacheco of Lodi attempted to avoid hitting Michael Farmer of Ione as Farmer made a left hand turn across Curran Rd. Pacheco, in attempt to not broadside Farmer, left the roadway and collided with fencing and signage. There were no injuries.
