Jackson Creek Dental Serves Local Kids With Smiles For Kids Program

slide26Jackson Creek Dental Group opened its doors on Saturday, February 3, 2007 to provide dental care to children, at no cost, who would not otherwise be able to receive this type of care.  They treated 53 children and provided services totaling over $11,000.Twenty-six of these children were referred to local dentists for further treatment as part of the Smiles For Kids program, and five were sent to specialists in Sacramento as part of the Sacramento District Dental Society’s Adopt-a-Child, Orthodontic, and Specialty Referral Care Programs.

slide27 In addition to Jackson Creek Dental Group dentists Dr. Ask, Dr. Kinzer, Dr. Simpson and Dr. Roda, the following local dentists will be offering this crucial follow-up treatment here in Amador County:  Dr. Bowen, Dr. Curry, Dr. Durkin, Dr. Eaton, and Drs. Montalbo. Children treated at Smiles for Kids were given exams, x-rays, teeth cleaning, sealants, fluoride treatments, and emergency restorations.

slide28 The doctors, their staff and community members offered this service on a volunteer basis to patients who met the criteria for the program. “Helping children develop good oral hygiene habits and preventing dental disease is paramount in today’s society.  We now know that developing gum and periodontal disease can effect the entire body, so early prevention and education of both parents and children is key to retaining a healthy smile and body,” stated Dwight D. Simpson, D.D.S. The Smiles for Kids program, a project of the Sacramento District Dental Society and Foundation, is run in support of the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” campaign.  Participants are member doctors, their staffs, vendors and community volunteers.
