Calaveras County – The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors announced during Thursday’s meeting that they have hired a new Planning Director and Public Works Director. Both positions are essential roles in the complex makeup of county government, said one official. New Planning Director George White has over 20 years of community and planning development assistance. He was appointed Planning Director after the past eight years as the Assistant Director of Community Development for the City of Petaluma. Thomas Garcia, a registered civil engineer who has worked for Sacramento County and CALTRANS, will take over as Public Works Director.
